CSD Foundation (Centre for Social Development Foundation) is a Bangladesh-based nonprofit NGO founded on
1st July in 2019. The organization is dedicated to advancing inclusive human development and social cohesion through integrated,
community-driven programming.
Its core areas include emergency preparedness, women’s empowerment, livelihoods, WASH, environmental sustainability,
social protection, and youth employment.
The organization prioritizes marginalized populations—particularly women, youth, persons with disabilities, and economically vulnerable households. Through a combination of capacity building, community mobilization, and livelihood pathways, CSD Foundation delivers sustainable, locally owned solutions.
With strong grassroots presence and partnerships with local stakeholders, the organization promotes inclusive development while strengthening community resilience and social harmony.
Visions of organization are to develop a society where rights of men and women are respected everyone is able to lead an economically independent and a socially conscious life.
The organisation desires to establish a situation in which people will utilize their inherent capacities to free themselves from economic dependence, and practice positive human values that bind them together.
The goal of the organization is to poverty reduction and employment generation of poor and marginalized families and there by create a society based on justice, equity and self- respect through involvement..
The cold wave happened in Bangladesh almost every year. Where the whole country is trembling with the onset of winter, when the country is almost paralyzed by the lack claws of the epidemic, the poor people who eat every day are coming out for their daily work. But we know necessity knows know laws and life does not stop anyhow.
The project was implemented in the 15 villages of Birulia Union, under Savar Upazila of Dhaka district. The project location has been selected considering problem of food insecurity for this neglected communities most of the family heads lost their job or reduce income by long time lockdown declared by government administration in the past 2 years’ time.
Zakat being one of the five fundamental pillars of Islam plays a major role in providing economic security to the poor of society. From the Islamic point of view, the needy have a right in the wealth of the rich and the rich can purify their wealth by paying zakat regularly. During Eid-ul-Fitr, the rich people give zakat and fitra to the poor. If the rich in society pay zakat properly to the poor, certainly it will alleviate poverty.
Clean, accessible water and adequate sanitation for everyone is important for better livelihood. Despite of sufficient fresh water, millions of people lose their life from disease associated with inadequate water supply and poor status of sanitation and hygiene, children to be mostly affected. According to UN, each day, 1,000 children die due to preventable water and sanitation related diarrheal diseases.
GLOBAL CENTER FOR INNOVATION AND LEARNING (GCFIL), USA and CSD Foundation (CSDF), Bangladesh has jointly organized a day long
capacity building training on “Master Certificate in Fund Raising Technique & Proposal Development” on January 2, 2022 at Mohammadpur Dhaka.
The training is led by Global Center for Innovation and Learning (GCFIL), USA in partnership and collaboration with CSD Foundation,
Bangladesh. This hands-on training course covers the complete process of grant proposal development:
identification of an achievable and fundable project, research and assessment of viable funding sources,
funder relations, proposal writing, budget development, preparation of a full proposal package for submission,
and post award or rejection follow-up with funders.
The intensive training is facilitated by Sakil Malik, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, GCFIL who has more than
20 years of experience in international project management, literacy, social & human development and human rights.
Besides, Md. Jahurul Islam and Md. Shahidul Islam, have also played role as a co-facilitator in the training programs.
Md. Jahurul Islam is the Executive Director, CSD Foundation and Former Executive Director of Bangla-German Sampreeti (BGS),
who has expertise in the areas of Organizational Development, Planning and Project Operation Management, EOI, PCN and Proposal Development,
Event Management, Facilitation Skills on Training, Workshop and Seminar. On the other hand, Md. Shahidul Islam is the Development Advisor,
CSD Foundation and Former Joint Director, Dhaka Ahsania Mission. He has 32 years working experiences in the development sector, who is
the innovator of Ganokendra (People's Organization), community led sustainable model of NFE.
The participants also get a refresher on proposal writing by Ms. Amy Pallangyo, Senior Advisor GCFIL USA, through zoom online.
Amy Pallangyo has more than 35 years of experience working in education, program development and international program implementation.
Amy is an independent technical consultant, working for companies such as Creative Associates, DAI, International Literacy Association,
World Learning, and URC. She worked as a Senior Technical Advisor for the USAID-funded Reading within Reach (REACH) Project and Global
Reading Network (GRN), which worked to improve the literacy of primary school children around the world.
